India's Harinder Pal Sandhu survived a tough fight to beat Chinese Taipei's James Huang 14-12, 7-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 to earn a semi-final berth in the $10,000 Christchurch International squash tournament, a PSA World tour event, here on Friday.
The third seeded Sandhu, the current Indian national champion, was tested to the hilt by the sixth seed Huang and the 73-minute tussle proved a non-stop action till the final moments.
Sandhu qualified for a face-off with the top seed Raphael Kandra of Germany in the last four.
Earlier, Sandhu had beaten qualifier Evan Williams of New Zealand 11-9, 12-10, 11-8.
