Saradha scam: CBI questions Mukul Roy

Trinamool Congress general secretary and former railway minister Mukul Roy Friday appeared before the CBI for questioning in the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam.

"I am here to cooperate with the CBI," said Roy while entering the probe agency's office at the CGO Complex here.

Summoned by the by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Jan 12, Roy had twice obtained deferral for his appearance. He is considered West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's right hand man.

Following his summoning, Roy had been frequenting to Delhi. Repeatedly asserting that he was not involved in anything illegal, the Trinamool Rajya Sabha member has said he would be cooperating with the CBI in the probe.

 

While four of Trinamool leaders including state transport minister Madan Mitra are behind bars, the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have grilled a number of party parliamentarians and legislators.
