Sarjubala, Saweety enter women's World boxing semis

Indian boxers Shamjetsabam Sarjubala and Saweety reached the semi-finals of the Women's World Championships here Friday.

Sarjubala started the proceedings with a dominating 3:0 win over Suguro Aldriani of Indonesia in the 48 kg quarter-final. Saweety followed it up with a 2:1 win over Marsic Anamarija of Croatia in the 81 kg last eight match.

However, Pavitra and Kavita lost to their opponents. In 64 kg, Pavitra lost to Beliakova Anstasiia of Russia 0:3 while in +81 kg Kavita lost to Magomedalieva Zenfira of Russia 0:3.

"Our boxers have great potential, they have prepared well and have dominated their opponents to assure medals at the AIBA Women's World Championships Jeju 2014. I am confident that they will continue their winning streak and will earn laurels for the nation," Boxing India president Sandeep Jajodia said.
