Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister on Saturday arrived in Baghdad on an official visit, a first since 2003, Iraqi authorities said.
Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir is expected to meet with Iraqi top officials, including Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim al-Jaafari, to discuss means to boost bilateral ties and the war against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, an Iraqi official told Xinhua news agency.
Jubeir's visit is the first for a Saudi official to the Iraqi capital since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
His visit also came as the Iraqi security forces backed by anti-IS international coalition are carrying out a major offensive to drive out the militants from their major stronghold of Mosul.
