Veteran filmmaker Sawan Kumar, known for directing films such as "Laila" and "Sanam Bewafa", plans to press charges against the makers of "Souten - A New Threesome" as he feels it's an unofficial remake of his yesteryear hit of the same name.
"Souten - A New Threesome" stars Kavita Radheshyam in the lead and is being directed by Karan Kashyap.
"I have no clue who is remaking my film. No permission was taken from me and no one even cared to approach me and I hear the film is already completed," Kumar told IANS, adding that he's already discussed the matter with his legal team.
The original "Souten", which released in 1983, featured Rajesh Khanna, Padmini Kolhapure and Tina Munim.
"We're deciding on the next course of action. If necessary action is not taken, such incidents can repeat and that's not a healthy trend," he said.
In his defence, director Karan Kashyap said: "My film is a tribute to the classic and it requires no permission. I am not making a biopic on Gandhi-ji that I am compelled go to his relatives and seek permission".
