The Supreme Court on Monday sought a report from the West Bengal government on the alleged killing of three BJP workers in the state.

A bench of Justice U.U. Lalit and Justice Ashok Bhushan asked the government to file a report within two weeks while hearing a plea seeking a CBI probe into the alleged killings after the recent local body polls.

Appearing for the West Bengal government, senior advocate Kapil Sibal told the bench that several people have been arrested with regard to the killings, adding that it was wrong to say that the police were not doing anything.

The court is hearing a plea filed by BJP leader and advocate Gaurav Bhatia.

Bhatia said that the family members of the deceased Shaktipad Sarkar, Trilochan Mahato and Dulal Kumar were being threatened. He demanded monetary compensation and security to them.
