Laying stress on educating the girl child, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Friday that building schools in areas in the vicinity will help them continue with their studies.
"The biggest cause of concern is that after class 5, girl students have to go to other villages to complete their education. In many cases, parents do not allow them to do so forcing them to leave their education mid-way. With this in mind, we are working on having schools in nearby areas," Modi said, while responding to a student about the initiative he is taking for girls' education.
Modi was addressing students in a live interaction on Teachers' Day.
The prime minister also stressed on quality of education and the use of technology in every sphere of learning.
"In remote villages since good teachers do not want to go, long-distance education will prove beneficial, as with virtual classroom students in Leh or any part of the country will be able to learn easily," he added.
