An exhibition of installations and sculptures which aims to bring Indian art and aesthetics to the fore while promoting public arts, will begin here on Tuesday.

The group exhibition "Sculpt for Delhi II", organised by the Delhi Art Society and curated by Naresh Kapuria, will present the works of 16 sculptors with different styles, but all with an inherent 'Indianness' to their works.

"We are demanding a master plan for public arts in Delhi. Delhi as a city is not getting its share of public arts of India. We have the examples of Ajanta and Ellora, which are great works of art and our history. But what needs to be seen is where have we come from there," the society's president Neeraj Gupta told IANS.

"Indian art should have an Indian aesthetic sensibility," he added.

The participating artists include Bipasha Sen Gupta, Anjali Khosa Kaul, Farhat Jamshed, and Gupta and Kapuria themselves, among others.

The exhibition would be inaugurated by Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal at the India International Centre's (IIC) Gandhi King Plaza here, the organisers said.

It will culminate on March 19.
