A day after an Indonesian chopper went missing with five people on board, rescuers, including soldiers and police, were searching for it on Monday, an official said.

A single-engine Eurocopter EC130 operated by PT Penerbangan Angkasa Semesta lost communication with the North Sumatra air traffic control about 17 minutes after taking off from Samosir island on Sunday evening, Xinhua news agency quoted Zainul Tjahar, spokesman of the national search and rescue office as saying.

Tjahar said the five people aboard include two crew members and three passengers.

In August, an aircraft operated by Trigana Air Service with 54 people aboard went missing in Papua after losing communication with the air traffic control. The plane was later found with all people on board killed.
