The search for an Indian sailor, who fell overboard from a Liberian-registered oil tanker Sunday off the West Australian coast, has been called off, media reported Tuesday.
Mukesh Lala Fulbaria, 41, fell off from crude oil tanker MT Sigma Integrity off the coast of Carnarvon in western Australia Sunday and has been missing since then, ABC News reported.
An air-and-sea search involving four vessels and several helicopters found no trace of the missing Indian national.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (ASMA) announced Monday the search was being abandoned after it was determined that there was no chance the missing person had survived.
Wallem, the vessel's operator, said the ship would dock in Kwinana where it would assist with AMSA's investigation.
