Singapore's Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Monday said the country's Home Team and Singapore Armed Forces will do everything within their capabilities to step up security as the country celebrates its 51th National Day on Tuesday.
Minister Ng's remarks came after the news on August 5 that Indonesian authorities foiled a plot to launch a rocket from Batam in Riau Islands Province to attack Singapore's Marina Bay.
Paying a visit to the National Stadium to review preparations, Minister Ng said defences will be stepped up not only on land, but at sea and in the air, Xinhua news agency reported.
Singapore's Navy and Patrol Coast Guards will also increase the number of patrols at sea, while Maritime and Port Authority will establish no entry and no anchoring zones.
