Delhi chief secretary S.K. Srivastava Monday asked the Public Works Department (PWD) to choose "right contractors" to deliver work of international standards.
The work of international standard is expected of the the agency which needs to work in a "mission mode" to deliver on time, Srivastva said on the occasion of the 53rd Public Works Department day.
"You have to choose right contractor and purchase right things so that work could be done on time," he said.
"The PWD is 53-year-old now and it's role is changing. World standard work is required now," he added.
Entrusted with the task of constructing roads, hospitals, schools and government buildings in Delhi, the department was established July 25, 1961.
