Sen new acting chief justice of Meghalaya HC

President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday appointed Justice Sudip Ranjan Sen as the acting Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court with immediate effect, an official statement said.

Sen's appointment follows the retirement of Chief Justice Uma Nath Singh on January 14, while Justice T Nandakumar Singh, who was acting chief justice, will be retiring on February 1.

Earlier, speculations were rife that Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, a senior judge at the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, has been recommended to head the Meghalaya High Court.
