A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Monday closed trading 195.42 points, or 0.76 percent, up provisionally.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also closed trading 64.10 points, or 0.82 percent, up at 7,925.15 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,858.52 points, closed the day's trade provisionally at 26,034.13 points (at 03.59 p.m.), up 195.42 points, or 0.76 percent, from the previous day's close at 25,838.71 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 26,073.41 points and a low of 25,856.86 points in the intra-day trade.
