A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Wednesday closed trading provisionally 315.68 points or 1.29 percent down.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed 93.75 points or 1.26 percent down at 7,361.80 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 24,393.59 points, closed day's trade at 24,223.32 points (at 03.48 p.m.) in the afternoon session, down 315.68 points or 1.29 percent from the previous day's close at 24,539 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 24,409.26 points and a low of 24,187.54 points in the trade so far.
