A benchmark index of Indian equities, the 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), closed Wednesday's trade with a decline of 244.75 points, or 0.84 percent down, as per provisional figures.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed the day's trade down by 83.80 points or 0.95 percent at 8,750.20 points.
The Sensex, which opened at 29,087.25 points, ended trade at 28,799.69 points, down 244.75 points, or 0.84 percent, over the previous day's close at 29,044.44 points. The Sensex had touched a high of 29,094.61 points and a low of 28,721.63 points during the day.
