A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Wednesday surged 315.20 points or 1.17 percent during the morning session.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 91.20 points or 1.12 percent up at 8,218.15 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,023.71 points, was trading at 27,192.68 points (at 9.36 a.m.) in the early session, up 315.20 points or 1.17 percent from the previous day's close at 26,877.48 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,249.05 points and a low of 26,989.49 points in the trade so far.
Good buying was observed in auto, oil and gas, banking and capital goods sectors.
