A benchmark index of Indian equities markets on Tuesday was trading 97.36 points or 0.36 percent down during the afternoon session.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also down by 33.55 points or 0.41 percent at 8,227 points.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,291.06 points, was trading at 27,264.60 points (at 01.10 p.m.) in the afternoon session, down 97.36 points or 0.36 percent from the previous day's close at 27,361.96 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,296.30 points and a low of 27,209.52 points in the trade so far.
Selling pressure was seen in consumer durables, metal and oil and gas sectors.
The consumer durables index dropped by 1.04 percent, metal index dropped by 0.78 percent and oil and gas index fell by 0.43 percent.
