Sensex trades flat; capital goods stocks drop

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Tuesday was trading flat at 25.20 points or 0.09 percent down as capital goods stocks dropped.

Good buying was observed in healthcare and IT sectors, while selling pressure was seen in capital goods and metal sectors.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,134.22 points, was trading at 28,094.20 points (at 09.31 a.m.) in the early session, down 25.20 points or 0.09 percent from the previous day's close at 28,119.40 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 28,157.53 points and a low of 28,056.87 points in the trade so far.

 

The S&P healthcare index gained 48.18 points and IT index moved up by 47.27 points; while capital goods index dropped by 68.05 points and metal index fell by 56.66 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 4.10 points or 0.05 percent down at 8,434.15 points.
