Sensex up 85 points; consumer durables stocks surge

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Tuesday was trading 84.72 points or 0.29 percent up as consumer durables stocks surged.

Good buying was observed in consumer durables and banking sectors. Selling pressure was seen in oil and gas sector.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,217.40 points, was trading at 29,206.99 points (at 09.15 a.m.) in the early session, up 84.72 points or 0.29 percent from the previous day's close at 29,122.27 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 29,237.10 points and a low of 29,198.16 points in the trade so far.

 

The S&P consumer durables index gained by 100.35 points and bankex moved up by 76.51 points. However, oil and gas index went down by 55.19 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also was trading 28.10 points or 0.32 percent up at 8,825.50 points.
