Seven acquitted in Jharkhand cop murder case

A court here Wednesday acquitted due to lack of concrete evidence seven people accused in the murder of Ranchi Deputy Superintendent of Police U.C. Jha in 2000.

Jha was killed near Rajendra roundabout when protesters from a particular community attacked police Dec 28, 2000 after a police vehicle had crushed a girl to death. Police had fired on the mob, leaving two people dead.

During the incident, Jha suffered grievous head injuries and died during the course of treatment.
