Seven people, including three from the northeast, were arrested here Sunday after a brawl, police said.
The brawl started in Chakkarpur area after a man from Arunachal Pradesh, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, stopped near a car parked outside a house at around 2 a.m. Sunday. The car owner, mistaking him for a prowler, shouted at him and they started arguing, a police officer said.
Hearing the argument, the car owner was joined by three of his cousins while the man was joined by his two friends -- both from the northeast. Soon both sides began a fist-fight.
Police, on reaching the spot, arrested all the seven brawlers, who an officer said are all in the age group of 19-23 years.
The people from northeast - two from Arunachal Pradesh and one from Tripura - live in a rented accommodation in Chakkarpur, the officer said.
Later, the seven people were produced before a judicial magistrate, who granted them bail.
