Seven killed in Tripura road accidents

Seven people, including a doctor and his wife, were killed and five injured in four road accidents in Tripura, police said Friday.

A school bus of Tripura State Rifles collided with a car, killing doctor Ashok Sarkar, 52, and his wife Ruma, 42, a teacher, Thursday night, police said.

Their 16-year-old daughter and another family member were critically injured in the accident at Gakul Nagar, 15 km south of here.

In another incident, a loaded truck mowed down two youths aged 18 and 19 years Thursday night at Ambasa in northern Tripura.

In other incidents, a boy was crushed to death by a speeding truck at Amtali in western Tripura while a woman and a teenaged girl were killed by a car and a speeding motorcycle separately in southern Tripura.
