Delhi's sex ratio has increased from 898 females per thousand males in 2015 to 902 in 2016, according to a report released by the Delhi government on Wednesday.
The report "Registration of Births and Deaths in Delhi-2016" was released by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia here on Wednesday.
The city witnessed around 5,000 more births in 2016, from 374,012 in 2015 and 373,693 in 2014 to 379,161 in 2016.
Of the 379,161 new-borns in 2016, 199,358 (52.6 per cent) were males and 179,738 (47.4 per cent) were females.
The report also revealed that the birth rate is 20.38 per thousand population during 2016 as against 20.50 during 2015.
According to the report, institutional births have increased from 315,694 (84.41 per cent) in 2015 to 328,872 (86.74 per cent) in 2016.
The total number of deaths registered in Delhi during 2016 were 1.42 lakh, compared with 1.25 lakh in 2015, the report stated.
The report revealed that on an average everyb day during 2016 Delhi saw 1,036 births and 387 deaths.
