Shah's roadshow stoned, Trinamool student wing blamed

Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) activists allegedly pelted stones at BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow convoy triggering violent clashes in which three motorbikes were set ablaze in the College Street area here on Tuesday.

Shah later accused the Trinamool of throwing stones and brick targeting his rally.

"There were disturbances in two places during my rally here as the Trinamool supporters tried to create violence and threw stones and bricks at us," he said.

The TMCP activists had positioned themselves outside the gates of Calcutta University carrying black flags and posters.

As the rally was passing the area, they shouted slogans against Shah, showed him black flags and allegedly pelted stones and bricks targeting the rally. The BJP supporters, on the other hand, also allegedly threw bricks at the university students.

 

Both the groups flung chairs and guard rails at each other.

"There were disturbances in two places during my rally here as the Trinamool supporters tried to create violence and threw stones and bricks at us," Shah said.

Apart from the incident of before of Calcutta University, another clash also erupted before the Vidyasagar College.

Three two-wheelers were set afire near the college.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters allegedly ransacked the reception counter of the college and also pelted stones, bricks and glass bottles at the students of the institution.
