Authorities in China's Shanghai city have launched an investigation into the alleged involvement of four court officials in a prostitution scandal at a nightclub.
The case came to light when a netizen claimed that four officials of the Shanghai Higher People's Court have asked for prostitutes at the Hengshan Resort in the city during night in June, the China Daily reported Saturday.
It led to the Shanghai Municipal Disciplinary Commission vowing a thorough investigation into the allegation and pledged to publish the results to the public.
Identifying two officials implicated in the scandal as Chen Xueming and Zhao Minghua, chief and deputy chief of the court's No. 1 civil court, respectively, the Shanghai Higher People's Court also pledged a thorough investigation and subsequent harsh punishment in case the allegations were found to be true.
