Wild card Asish Sen's dream run ended at the hands of Sharad Tak, who lifted the trophy in the men's singles at the just concluded Calcutta South Club Senior ITF Tennis Championship here on Saturday.
Sen ultimately failed to live up to the expectations as he went down fighting against unseeded Sharad Tak, by a clean 2-6, 3-6 at the red clay courts of the Calcutta South Club Ltd.
Nitten Kirrtane, a former national champion and a top seed in men's singles 35, lived up to his billing as he drubbed 6th seeded Riyaz Ahmed by an easy 6-1,6-2 to lift the title.
In the final of the men's singles 45 category, top seeded Jagdish Tanwer proved to be too good for Tuleswor Singh Thongbam, seeded 4, as the former won by a one-sided 6-0, 6-1.
