Sujit Sarkar, the bodyguard of a Kolkata businessman who was questioned by Mumbai police in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, on Sunday denied having known prime suspect Indrani Mukherjea or her husband Peter Mukherjea.
Sarkar, who was summoned to Mumbai and grilled by investigators, upon his arrival in the city wondered how his name cropped up in the case which has been hogging headlines ever since Indrani was arrested for the murder of her daughter Sheena.
"I have never met them. I know neither Indrani nor Peter Mukherjea," Sarkar, who returned to the city on Sunday morning, told media persons.
Confirming that he was grilled by Mumbai police, Sarkar said: "Police were satisfied with my answers. I have been strictly instructed not to reveal any details about my interrogation."
"It is strange that my name cropped up. But police were satisfied with my answers. Otherwise they would not have let me go," said the man who has been working as the personal security guard of the city businessman for the last 7-8 years.
Sarkar also asserted that he will cooperate with the investigators if they summon him again.
Indrani, 47, along with her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, 50, and her driver Shyamvar Rai, 43, are in custody on charges of killing Sheena.
