Shiv Sena would contest "at least" 20 seats in the upcoming Goa assembly elections, the party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said on Friday, while also appointing Sudeep Tamankar as the new president of its state unit.
"Shiv Sena will contest at least 20 seats in the next assembly elections which are to be held next year. Our preparations are in full swing," Raut told reporters here, while also adding that his Maharashtra-based party was looking to electorally tie up with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, a regional party which is currently part of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance.
"Shiv Sena and MGP share a similar ideology," he said.
The Shiv Sena has never won a single seat in the state in the past.
