A two-day festival to promote Sindhi food and Sufi music will begin here on Saturday evening at Palika Services Officers' Institute Lawn, Chanakyapuri.
The festival "Sindhi Sufi Music & Food Festival" is being organised by the department of art, culture and languages in association with the Sindhi Academy and will bring together eminent singers and culinary delights on a single platform.
Singers like Indira Naik, Dushyant Ahuja, Sadhna Bhatia will perform on the first day whereas Pankaj Jeswani and Mohit Lalwani will sing on the second day.
"The contributions that the region of Sindh made to the composite culture and shared heritage of India and Pakistan cannot and should not be undermined," said Naik in a statement.
"The Sufi music of Sindh is among the most recognisable facets of this tradition. In a world where many cultures and languages are fighting for survival, it is pertinent that we propagate the richness of Sindhi language, its lyrical beauty and musical heritage," she added.
