Singhania finishes fourth in Ferrari championship

Industrialist Gautam Hari Singhania became the first Indian to be ranked fourth in the Ferrari Championship Series 2015, an official said here on Monday.

Founder of the Super Car Club, Singhania achieved the distinction at the grand finale held in Mugello, Italy on Sunday in a culmination of a series of 14 races through the year across seven rounds.

Singhania raced for the Coppa Shell category for the entire Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship 2015 and secured the second position in the overall standings in this category with 171 points and a personal best lap in the world finals was 1:56:119.

 

The racing extravaganza, among the most prestigious in the world, consisted of 34 super cars fighting neck-and-neck for a podium finish with participants from Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific in the fray.

Singhania was endorsed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), and the entire season was spread over six weekends in Monza, Imora (both Italy), Le Castellet (France), Valencia (Spain) and Budapest (Hungary).

"I am thrilled to finish the World Finals in this leading position. A power packed year with all the hard work finally culminating with my securing second position in the overall standings at my maiden full season," Singhania said after the race.

He raced with the renowned Swiss Team, Kessel Racing that has registered numerous wins and an exhaustive list of experiences under its belt.

Former Formula One driver Andrea Motermini has been Singhania's coach for the entire season.
