India's tourism ministry has launched a website that provides 360 degree view of popular destinations in five cities, including Delhi, and lets people tag and review locations, hotels, monuments, etc., officials said Tuesday.

Wonobo.com is also available in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Goa. It will be expanded to 54 cities within a few weeks, officials added.

"The site offers user generated content while offering social media capabilities and facilitating creation of 'local communities' online," said an official.

"This initiative aims to empower the tourist by helping him plan his tour. We have set a target of having one 'walking tour' in each state within two years," added the official.

Genesys International, a Mumbai-based tech firm which developed the platform jointly with the tourism ministry said it would have mapped panoramic imagery of thousands of square kilometres and close to 10 million places of interest across the country.
