At least six people died and four suffered serious injuries after a methane gas leakage at a mine in Spain's Leon province Monday.
The accident occurred at the Santa Lucia mine near the town of Pola de Gordon in the afternoon, following which the guards rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.
Neither the cause of the accident nor the total number of trapped miners could be immediately confirmed, Xinhua reported.
The mine is 694 metres deep and 6.5 meters wide.
Santa Lucia is a small village of around 700 inhabitants and people from all over the region work in the mine, which belongs to the company Hullera Vasco-Leonesa.
