SJVNL gets excellence award

President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday conferred an award for excellence on public sector company Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) that also owns and operates India's largest hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh.

The gold trophy and citation of SCOPE Excellence Awards was given under the institutional category (mini ratna) at a function, jointly organized by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and the department of public enterprises, in New Delhi to mark the Seventh Public Sector Day.

The awards were received by SJVNL chairman and managing director R.N. Misra and its director (finance) A.S. Bindra.

Misra said against the target of generation of 8,520 million units of electricity from its power stations, SJVNL has generated 9,346 million units during the last fiscal.

 

On account of its financial performance for 2015-16, the utility has paid interim a dividend of Rs.260.61 crore at the rate of 63 paisa per share.

SJVNL is currently operating 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri plant and 412 MW Rampur project, both in the hill state, and 47.6 MW Khirvire wind power project in Maharashtra.
