Public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL), a company that owns and operates India's largest hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh, Monday said it recorded 23.61 percent increase in profit after tax for this fiscal's first quarter.
The net profit of the company increased to Rs.424.29 crore from Rs.343.24 crore earned during the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.
While the company's total income increased 23.73 per cent from Rs.597.29 crore to Rs.739.08 crore, the profit before tax grew 23.34 percent from Rs.418.64 crore to Rs.516.37 crore, the company said in a statement.
The company's earning per share during the quarter has increased from Rs.0.83 to Rs.1.03.
The financial results of the company were declared at the board meeting held in New Delhi Monday.
SJVNL's two other projects, 412 MW Rampur hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh and 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Maharashtra, are also in operation.
The company, which has diversified in the field of wind power, thermal and power transmission, is presently generating 2,000 MW of electricity.
