The Indian wing of Czech Republic-based carmaker Skoda on Thursday said it is considering venturing into the pre-owned car business in 2015 to boost its own car sales via an exchange programme.

"We are looking to foray into the pre-owned car business segment this year and a few pilot projects may come up starting with Mumbai and Delhi," the company's sales and marketing director in India, Ashutosh Dixit told media persons here.

He said the company has positioned itself as a premium carmaker and would retain its market positioning in the coming years.

"We will not be offering discounts in a price-sensitive market like India to push our sales up. We have a value-premium brand and would like to retain it that way," he said.

According to Dixit, the market size in India for premium cars is expanding at the rate of five percent.

Presently, it has three sedans and one SUV (sports utility vehicle) under its car categories in India.
