The online sales of perfumes in India are expected to grow to around Rs.345 crore in two years time from the current Rs.150 crore, said a senior official of eBay India Pvt Ltd.
"The overall perfume market in India is estimated at Rs.2,000 crore and is expected to touch Rs.3,000 crore in two years time. The online sales of perfumes is now around Rs.150 crore and is expected to touch around Rs.345 crore in two years' time," Navin Mistry, business head-retail export of eBay India, told reporters here.
In order to cash on the changing trend of buying perfume online eBay India expanded its portfolio of perfumes to over 100 brands and selling at a discount ranging between 30 to 60 percent.
According to Mistry, 64 percent of the perfume buyers on eBay India platform are males.
However, purchase of perfumes by females is on the rise, he said.
According to Mistry, the average perfume bill size ranges between Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 during the trial purchase and the bill size goes up during the subsequent purchases.
