Social media gushes with praise for PV Sindhu

Political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday were all praise for Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu who fought hard but lost in the women's singles final of the World Badminton Championships and ended up winning a silver.

"Well played @Pvsindhu1! We are proud of your game at the @2017BWC finals. Congratulations," Modi tweeted.

"Very well fought @Pvsindhu1. You have made the nation proud. Congratulations for the Silver. #BWC2017," BJP President Amit Shah tweeted.

"A thrilling match right to the end. Congratulations @Pvsindhu1 on Silver at #WorldBadmintonChampionships," the Congress party's official Twitter handle said.

"You made every Indian so proud @Pvsindhu1," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.

 

India's Olympic 2016 silver medallist Sindhu lost to Japanese seventh seed Nozomi Okuhara in a pulsating women's singles final of the World Badminton Championships in Glasgow on Sunday.

Fourth seed Sindhu lost 19-21, 22-20, 20-22 against the Olympic 2016 bronze medallist Okuhara in a gruelling match that lasted an hour and 50 minutes.

It was Sindhu's third medal at the World Championships, with a bronze apiece from the 2013 and 2014 editions in her bag.
