An soldier was killed and four others injured on Saturday in an ongoing gunfight between the security forces and militants holed-up in a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, officials said.
The gunfight broke out in Awneera village of Shopian after security forces including the army's Rashtriya Rifles, state police and the Central Reserve Police Force, on receiving intelligence reports that a group of two to three militants were hiding in the village, surrounded it, but came under fire from the militants.
"The injured soldiers have been shifted to hospital. The gunfight is still g oing on in the village," police said.
