The condition of former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee, who had been hospitalised with fever, improved on Monday and he is likely to be discharged in a few days, a hospital official said.
The 86-year-old, who has a background of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, was admitted to the AMRI hospital on February 3 after he complained of illness and a seven-member medical board was constituted to monitor his health.
"His condition has improved and he is expected to be discharged in a few days," said a hospital spokesperson.
