Condemning in strongest words the terror attack in Istanbul that claimed 38 lives, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday called it "an unacceptable act of terror against innocent citizens".
"Our heart goes out to the families of those who have lost the family members. It is one that is particularly painful for the people of Turkey, who have faced series of attacks from militants and terrorists this year," said Gandhi.
Expressing solidarity with the people and the government of Turkey, Gandhi called for unity to defeat terror and extremism.
At least 38 persons were killed and 155 injured in twin explosions that rocked central Istanbul on Saturday night, officials said on Sunday morning.
