Sonia greets people on Eid, Navakalebar Rath Yatra

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday greeted the people on the occasion of Navakalebar Rath Yatra and Eidd-ul-Fitr.

Extending her greetings on the occasion of Navakalebar Rath Yatra, Gandhi said she hoped "Bhagwan Jagannath's blessings will bring peace, progress and prosperity to all of us".

The new millennium's first Nabakalebar Rath Yatra which commenced from the Puri temple in Odisha on Saturday will conclude at Shree Gundicha temple, covering a distance of nearly 2.5 km, in nine days. The yatra will conclude on July 29.

In her message, the Congress chief said: "Coming after a month of fasting and purification during Ramadan, this joyous festival (Id-ul-Fitr) will foster the spirit of brotherhood, mutual cohabitation and peace."
