Sony India, a leader in digital imaging solutions, is focusing on medium and premium segments of compact digital cameras as the smart mobile phones are eating into the market for compact digital cameras in India, a top official of the company said on Wednesday.
"The market for compact digital camera is declining by more than 50 percent year-on-year. The majority of that decline is coming from entry segment. Demand for compact cameras is taken by mobile phones," said the company's digital imaging business deputy general manager Hiroyuki Tokuno.
"We are focusing on medium and premium segments of compact cameras as customers look for better quality pictures," he said on the sidelines of the launch of the new G Master brand of interchangeable lens here.
