South Africa won the first-ever golf Test series against India with a total of score of 11.5-4.5 at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Sunday.

Though the score on Sunday was 6-2, three matches of the series were close affairs.

South African Gerlou Roux was the Player of the Day, playing 5 under in 12 holes.

The star of the Indian team was Simarjeet Singh, who won all the matches he contested and contributed three of the 4.5 points that the hosts scored in the tournament.

Jock Wellington, team manager of South Africa, said in a release, "Our boys have played really well, the course is set up quite long, which I think is not suitable for the Indian seniors."
