South African police returned a car to its owner 22 years after it was stolen in Pretoria, media reports said on Thursday.
Kwakwa Ntokola, the policeman who found the stolen car, said his daily task was to recover stolen vehicles and call their owners to retrieve them, EFE news agency reported.
The car owner, Derrick Goosen, picked up his Toyota Corolla on Tuesday. It was stolen in February 1993 in Wonderboom South, Pretoria.
Police located the vehicle in a traffic jam in the northern province of Limpopo, although the chassis and engine numbers had been changed.
The car, which was produced 27 years ago, was running fine and in good condition when it was returned to Goosen.
