The first appearance of stars was during the welcoming performance with the host nation's famous K-pop boy group EXO performing two songs at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, reports Xinhua.
Famous actors who showed up on stage included Jang Dong-gun, Hyun Bin and Kim Soo-hyun.
South Korean actress Lee Young-ae was unveiled as the last torchbearer and lit the cauldron in the company of two children.
After the lighting of the flame, 16 more minutes of other K-pop performances were held.
JYJ sang the theme song 'Only One' and PSY sang 'Champion' which was performed in collaboration with noted Chinese pianist Lang Lang and finally 'Gangnam Style' in front of the 60,000-strong audience.
