Milan (Italy), May 22 (IANS/AKI) A 27-year-old Spaniard found lying beside rail tracks at a Milan station with a deep head wound after a night out with friends risks becoming a paraplegic, police said on Monday.

The Spaniard was found at Milan's Porta Garibaldi station on April 30 after attending a stag party with around 20 friends at the northern Italian city's Alcatraz nightclub, police said.

Spanish and Italian investigators are trying to establish if the man was injured during a fight or if he was hit by a train at the station.

The Spaniard was spotted sprawled between the tracks by the driver of an early morning train, who stopped the vehicle and came to the man's help with a colleague.

His body was covered in cuts and bruises and he had lost a lot of blood from a deep gash to the back of his neck, according to the train driver and paramedics called to the scene.
