The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has ordered a partial closure of Sevilla club's Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, following offensive chants aimed at Real Madrid during the second leg of the Copa del Rey's pre-quarterfinal on January 12.

Sevilla, which decided to appeal the decision, explained on its website that it received the RFEF's competition committee's decision on Wednesday, reports Efe.

The order directs the closure of a section of the stands at the stadium.

The club recalled the incidents that took place on December 16, 2016 during a match against Malaga, when the RFEF ordered a partial closure of the stadium, but after filing an appeal the closure was mitigated to a financial penalty.

Sevilla announced that if the RFEF insisted on ignoring its appeal, the club will resort to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
