The Syrian Parliament on Thursday sacked its speaker, Hadiya Khalaf Abbas, over her "lack of performance".
The Syrian parliament members assembled on Thursday evening in an emergency session to discharge the speaker of the parliament who has been in her post since June last year, Xinhua reported.
Abbas was the first woman to claim the position of the speaker of the Syrian parliament since the parliament was formed in 1919.
Her deputy, Najdat Ismail Anzour was appointed as a temporary speaker of the parliament.
He was quoted by the local Sham FM radio as saying that Abbas was discharged over her ill performance.
Anzour is also a famous Syrian television director.
