Special trains to clear festive season rush

Special trains will be run to clear the festive season rush, authorities said.

The South Eastern Railway will run nine pairs of Weekly Superfast Premium Specials between Santragachi and Puri and 17 pairs of Bi-weekly Superfast Janasadharan Specials between Santragachi and Chennai between Sep 18 and Nov 15 with a view to clear the extra rush for the ensuing festive season.

A south Eastern Railway media release said reservation of the premium special between Santragachi and Puri will be made through internet and dynamic fare charged.

The 02837 Santragachi-Puri Weekly Superfast Premium Special will leave Santragachi at 8.40 a.m. every Thursday and reach Puri at 4 a.m. Friday.

 

On the return journey, 02838 Puri-Santragachi Weekly Premium Special will leave Puri at 5.30 a.m. every Friday and arrive at Santragachi at 2.25 a.m. the same day.

The Weekly Premium Special, comprising 12 coaches of sleeper and AC-3 classes, will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road.

The 02807 Superfast Bi-weekly Janasadharan Special will leave Santragachi at 9 p.m. every Monday and Thursday reaching Chennai at 10.45 p.m. on the next day.

The return journey will see the 02808 Superfast Bi-weekly Janasadharan Special leaving Chennai at 7.45 a.m. every Wednesday and Saturday and arrive Santragachi at 10.25 a.m. the next day.

The train comprises 18 coaches providing unreserved general class facility.

It will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Bramhapur, Palasa, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Duvadda, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada, Ongole, Nellore and Gudur.
